WEST ALLEGHENY AQUA CLUB / W.A.A.C.
Who & What are we ?
We are a competitive Swim Team and are members of
United States Swimming; Allegheny Mountain Chapter;
Located in Western PA. adjacent to the Pittsburgh Airport
Area, approximately 17 miles from Weirton W.V. and Steubenville
West Allegheny High School
205 West Allegheny Rd, Imperial PA. 15126
Our TEAM is generally about 90 to 105 swimmers depending on
winter / summer season. The TEAM is for swimmers ages 6 and up,
and the majority of middle school and high school swimmers at
West Allegheny train and compete with WAAC.
This is a key reason for the success of West Allegheny High School &
Middle School Swim Teams.
We also allow a percentage of our team to be out of WA school district,
and have members from
PA., West Va., and Ohio areas.
Our fall / winter season runs from 2nd week of September to mid March,
and spring / summer season goes from early May till late July.
Most practices are at West Allegheny High School Pool, although in
summer time we train 2 to 3 days a week at the Starvaggi Pool, an outdoor
50 Meter L.C. pool in Weirton West Virginia, plus sometimes use our
elementary school pools for our younger swimmers.
The cost depends upon the group a swimmer trains in and which
season it is or if you decide to be a year round member.
Prices may be found by going to our TEANUNIFY site and clicking on
WAAC TEAM UNIFY WEBSITE
WE HAVE 4 MAIN GROUPS / LEVELS OF PRACTICE, BUT OFTEN TIMES
EVEN THESE GROUPS MAY BE SPLIT INTO A & B GROUPS DEPENDING
UPON NUMBERS EACH SEASON.
RIPPLES / BREAKERS / WHITEWATER / TSUANMI
(WE ARE WEST ALLEGHENY WAVE SWIMMING)
Our Ripple Group is for beginner swimmers, ages 6 to 11.
They practice two to three days a week and competitions are on
weekends. We have tryouts for this group and new swimmers trying out
will be asked to swim a few lengths of the 25 yard pool.(1 length at a time)
They must be able to go under water for a five count, not afraid to put
face in, kick 2 lengths with a kickboard, and are able to listen and follow
instruction in a group setting.
We look at age & ability to work, listen, and learn in group setting as we do
work as a TEAM and this is not individual lessons or learn to swim.
Swimmers who can not stay up with the group(of other new swimmers)
may be a safety challenge along with holding the group back so this must
also be considered.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO OUR TEAM BUT YOUR SWIMMER HAS PRIOR
COMPETITIVE EXPERIENCE CONTACT COACH BOB FOR PLACEMENT.

Breaker Group is for 8 to 12 year olds with moderate training and
competition experience. Some new swimmers ages 11 -13 may also be
placed here as a starting point to learn basics then move up as soon as
coaches feel they are ready.
Competitions are on weekends.
Whitewater Group consists of strong experienced 9 to 13 year old
swimmers. Generally we have 6 practice sessions a week available
and encourage swimmers to make a minimum of 4 per week.
Competitions are on weekends.
Tsunami Group is for dedicated and strong competitive swimmers that
are High School age and above. Anywhere from 6 to 9 practices my be
offered during the week and we want and expect these swimmers to be
in the 90% attendance avg. Competitions are weekends but most also
compete in their High School Meets and sometimes travel meets are on
the schedule. We generally break this group into 2 groups as it is one of
our biggest and most diverse ones.
We are a competitive TEAM and all of our swimmers need to
compete in meets regularly. The level of meets a swimmer competes in
is determined by age, ability, desire and willingness to commit to
learning and training.
Please contact us if you have questions or interest in our program / TEAM.
We have sign ups in early Sept for Fall / Winter season and late April for
Summer season. Although you may contact us at anytime during the
season about joining or trying out for a few days.
